Let's start with how the mind works
Your conscious mind is the part of you reading this sentence. It reasons, plans, and weighs decisions one at a time. Your subconscious, or automatic, mind is doing far more in the background — running your habits, your emotional reflexes, the reactions that show up before you've had time to think.
Most unwanted patterns were learned by the subconscious, or automatic, mind, a long time ago, for reasons that made sense at the time: the anxiety that shows up before a meeting, the urge that follows a craving, the flinch of self-doubt before you speak up. Talking about a pattern can help you understand it. Hypnocounseling goes a step further by working directly with the part of the mind that's running the thought or behavior.
Grounded in Evidence
I don't ask you to take these claims on faith. Hypnosis has been studied in clinical settings for decades, and there's a robust body of research behind it. A 2026 meta-analysis of the effectiveness of hypnotherapy looked at reviewed scientific articles from 2010-2026 and found that,
Hypnotherapy has a growing evidence base demonstrating clinical efficacy . . .Meta-analytic data (since 2010) show significant symptom improvement with hypnosis across anxiety, pain, IBS, and other domains. Effect sizes are often large when compared to no treatment and comparable to standard therapies when tested head-to-head.
A 2019 meta-analysis of the efficacy of hypnotherapy drew a similar conclusion:
Altogether, there is reasonable evidence from primary studies and systematic reviews that hypnosis can be an efficacious treatment option for patients with mental and somatic health problems.
.
As I mention on the "about me" page, I value this research deeply.
I also know that what we can measure isn't the whole story of what we experience. Research helps us to know what tools are effective but listening deeply to clients in a one-to-one setting is how research is translated into effective action. And this is just the care that I offer; I use best practices to shape sessions that get to the heart of what you would like to change.
